Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill"
The “One Big Beautiful Bill” (OBBB) is Donald Trump’s largest law change, a massive piece of legislation covering tax, border security, and energy policies.
“If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich.”
đźš· The tightening of immigration laws in the United States
Among the most notable and worrying changes is the tightening of immigration laws. Congress approved the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which allocates around $170 billion to border and national security. These resources are directed toward building the border wall, expanding detention centers, and hiring 10,000 new ICE agents, with the goal of increasing deportations to 1 million people per year.
đź’ˇ Savings accounts for children
From 2025 to 2028, every baby born in the U.S. will receive a single deposit of $1,000 into a government-managed account. Parents will also be able to contribute up to $5,000 per year, and employers up to an extra $2,500. The idea is to encourage children to save for education, housing, or retirement.
⚡ Clean energy: benefits countdown
During Joe Biden’s administration, several incentives for clean energy were promoted, but several are at risk of disappearing soon. The credit for purchasing electric vehicles ends on September 30, 2025. The tax benefit for installing solar panels in homes will disappear on December 31, 2025. And the credit for installing electric vehicle chargers will expire on June 30, 2026. Without these supports, the growth of clean energy could lose momentum.
đź’µ Changes in social programs and taxes
In addition to the immediate adjustments, the new law brings other key points. In programs such as Medicaid (medical assistance) and SNAP (food assistance), funding will be reduced and stricter requirements to access benefits will directly affect low-income families.
On the other hand, the 2017 tax reform offers some relief to the general population, but the largest benefits go to individuals earning over $400,000 annually, disproportionately favoring high-income households.
